There is something about Brandyhole that feels protective, for all the bareness and open countryside to its borders, the closeness of the buildings paired with drainage ditches, the mixture of the residents and how they use the buildings means that we are a haphazard community that have very different reasons and sometimes bemusement of each other but we are all starting to get to know and and take on each others abilities. Bob for example is an upholsterer but at the moment is making all of the wooden sections for the renovated loos. Richard - also known as Dick who occupies the corner workshop is an expert at motors is and is the unofficial grass keeper. Dan the graff artist is next door and over the road while Jack and Anita continue to create a laid back yet industrial space full of good ideas and excitement and over the next few months as the ground dries out I am sure we will see more of our neighbours.
Jules and I - are still finding our feet, All of the visio gloriosa glassware is over and its not leaving too much room ! I have to work it through I haven't got my design board in yet!! Maybe I should build an annexe!!!! On Sunday we have our first public consultation visitor for a wedding in Septemberand we have been wallpapering and tidying and putting up curtains to hide the full storage end of the chalet. The visio gloriosa webpage is nearly ready to go live and I have got round to writing the blog page, all be it without a picture!! Maybe I will see if we can get us all together!! ![]() This week we have been over at the studio, one containing our excitement and also working out by being in the space how we might want to use it for creation of work for naturespacecreative and new business for Fragrance. Its been a great few days, We have a little kitchen unit which Julie found in here moms garage and we are collecting white ends of paints for us to use a little later in spring and any floor paint that might not be any use so we can repaint the floor. I am also going to be mastering self Levelling Screed for the small crack in the 1930s concrete in the end where my design board and desk will live. We joked about sinkholes, I thought that would be slightly ironic after waiting so long to then be swallowed up but the thought made me laugh never the less! So its been two years and I finally got the call this morning from Justin that the studio I have held onto with hope in my heart to get is mine and the keys are ready to collect!
The studio - more a chalet is based over at Brandyhole moorings - on a smugglers cove next to Dan the Graff artist and opposite the Upholsterer. I am so excited to have my own space to think my creativity through - a home from home for me to create designs and realise and be part of the growing community of creatives over there. So Fragrance and naturespacecreative have a new home, a new beginning and a place to create beautiful things for lovely people. More than anything I am looking forward to having my design board out and in the Summer bringing the kids over and spending balmy nights drinking wine and hearing them run free and being able for the family to share it too. Jules and I will be decorating over the next week or two before we move the businesses over. So come on our journey, to places that have a heart and a spirit waiting to be discovered!! |
