Are these the beings that I have been searching for??
The classical view of elements - this is discussed on this intro page to see if I am following the right path.
Originally 4 ( greek ) fire, water, air and earth,) linking to the astrology and stars. They also show up in other faith and cultures, such as India, Egypt and tibet.
There is also the discussion of the fifth element that is void - whether that would include time/ I have not explored as yet.
It feels like I am on the right research areas, that I am following the path laid out. One interesting find in the brief initial is that the elements are not recognised by modern science, These use the atomic theory. that classifies all elements into the atomic structure , which I had not considered the separation.
The elementals and their energies according to this writer " Many believe Elementals are recognized as the natural force of energy in the magical world. Awakening the four elements and calling upon them to help with magical tasks, allows the magician or Witch to access and connect with the full power of nature and spirits in their Craft."
This pulls me back to the pagan and alternative cultures practiced and the spiritual connections that the females in my family have with the earth.
My mother has the gift, I have the gift, my grandmother adn her mother had the gift. I have always had it, nowadays it is called empathic, feeling others, seeing things differently, communicating with beings unknown.
Maybe now, its got a name. I find the science and intervention of humans in this process not unlike that of the categorisation of nature and life through science and the desperate need to understand it and capitalise on it, conquer it and control. Colonisation, capitalism, patriarchy,
I am not sure where I am going with this speil or where I fit into it at the moment, r if I want to know.
I shall ponder it further.
From my mortgaged house, heated and warm, behind brick walls that protect me from winters bite, while I curse at the cold. Yet closing my eyes, I sense I was not always removed from the elements, and a wanderlust surrounds me when in places of nature, I just haven't' worked out how I integrate with it. Not that different from humans really. on that note....
