Bombarded with emails daily from different things I have clicked subscribe to just to see their content, a rather interesting and actual one that I had purposely subscribed too. Glen Dye is an estate in the eastern highlands, and links to the cairngorm ranges. Long established estate, inherited by the Gladstones in 1990 and over 25 years has been renovated to make it a via eco tourism business that houses 20 different holiday cottages across its site, and woodland, forest and farmland. A serendipitous call to them, not being sure why and sounding increasingly unhinged as I walked through it, led to me asking if they had residencies and opportunities for artists to interact with the land. An email followed with the request for links to previous works, I scurried unlocking my old website, linking where I could, not really expecting a return. On 22.10.21 I got a response from Charlie Gladstone - whose land and projects Glen Dye sits on, requesting a meeting for today. This morning. Charlie, from the music industry, said he wanted me to be involved and would like to commission me to create a piece on site. Chats followed, thoughts and ideas flying around. I beautiful surprise this morning. Which has left me with some lovely moments of thoughts and plans to go up as soon as possible. For now, here are some pictures of the Glen Dye estate to focus the thoughts for now. ![]() mecarroll.com/ Mary Ellen Carroll piece for COP 26 is being bought to the site and will be in situ permanently at the estate: Article : climateactionrelay.com/events/indestructible-language-a-public-work-of-art-and-call-to-action-at-cop26-glasgow/ Mary Ellen Carroll is an interesting artist, and an artist that emerged during my hiatus fro the Arts scene. I have booked to attend the talk on Friday evening to listen to her talking ahead of the COP26 event.
At present it looks like I will fly to Glen Dye the weekend of 4-7 Nov so it will be good to be in Scotland at the same time, as press on the Scottish TV has a wider coverage than in England. Comments are closed.
