Tutorial prep - important thoughts to develop

23/10/2021

A Feedback responses for Tutorial from form for responses ( responses and dates in different colour)
  1. It would be helpful to have feedback on how to integrate theory and my practice, it is not something I have challenged before or questioned as I have just followed what the site draws me too without pulling it a part.
I would identify with as an artist that creates experience that link to space, and nature is always present in some form.
It definitely also links to history or land use of the space over time. So would it be defined as socio-ecological, pycho-geographical artist.

  1. I am drawn to places, this might be a project brief or residency that calls fro a response, or a found space that I create from. The response may be digital, movement or written.
The research ( pre-installation day) forms such a strong part of the conversation and in its own right are as important as the final piece. The recordings of the process are as important as the final , usually ephemeral piece, captured on film.
I have a strong belief that places find you and tell their stories, and I am an the interpreter. that is the most clearly I have defined it! It’s a conversation with the place, and getting the interpretation true to intention as to serve the land and that is what I love about it.

I would like to be able to navigate this area as considerations of influences, first off my practice –I respond to my current loves in terms of landscape/ eco and intervention art. I am not an activist artist, I am never making a direct point.  My subject matters are welcoming the thoughts of the past, from a present standpoint, I have not developed a future standpoint or questioning looking forward, from a human, non- human standpoint and the conversation that occurs within that spectrum.

  1. I struggle a little with drawing characters and fictional spaces. I am happy with life studies, nature, perspective, plans, drafting etc, these are all safe and a default settings, however, I have drawn with words in the last 20 years as drawing is part of my job, so it seemed harder to separate. .
Needless to say, I have set myself the challenge of revisiting drawing, because I set the goal of making me be uncomfortable to develop wider thinking.  BLOG PAGE set up to set up discipline practice

  1. I also love to write and increasing this is a medium that I have used to express and develop my responses.
I would love feedback on how these fit, at the moment, I feel definitions of Art, fine art and creative often collaborative practice define but also limit, what do I call this or does it not need defining!
