Case StudyIn May 2012 , quite late in the advancement of planning, Joanna was employed as Event Production Manager for Dover Olympic Torch Relays, Evening Celebration and Song for Dover Overall production manager.
The Project memorable in so many ways focused on the delivery of three Olympic torch relays on Day 61 and Day 62 as the Olympic Torch came into Dover and through the districts of Deal and Sandwich, the overseeing and delivery of the event and management of the partnerships and stakeholder relationships. Joanna was employed to apply Event Industry knowledge across the board and support the local lead partners - Dover District Council with practical and relevant information from the perspective of the event community and compliance around crowd management issues and potential issues and solutions. Dover District Council is a small council who do not have an established event team to deal with events of this size and complexity. Aside from the infrastructure element, the role became the go between when the partnerships became difficult to ensure that all agendas were met to create a successful event for all Involved. |
The key partners in the projects were:

Song for Dover

Song for Dover was the lead Cultural Olympiad Project in Kent with record funding from Arts Council England to produce a legacy event that would not only celebrate the historical importance of Dover in the History of Great Britain but also start and work with the regeneration process occurring in Dover to rejuvenate and instil a sense of pride in the Dover community through the creation of an orchestrated piece of choral music performed by a community choir made up of Dover residents.
The piece would also then be a co-constructed creation incorporating a fire show that was to be performed from ships in Dover Harbour. The Lead Artist organisation was The World Famous. An amazing group of individuals who threw there heart and soul into the piece and created a lasting and amazing new piece of work that embraced all of the senses.
